Entry Process: Contractor must hire candidate and complete a Sponsorship form on Laborers’ website. Contractor will make a good faith effort to employ hired candidates for 2 years. 

Additional Information: All new hires are required to join the apprenticeship program.

Openings: Year-round, with contractor sponsorship and letter of intent to hire.  

 

Vince Sticca, Chicagoland Regional Council of Carpenters

  • Recommendation letter from local union OR letter of intent to hire from a contractor 
  • Physically fit to work as a carpenter

Entry Process: Through contractor sponsorship and apply in-person at Carpenters Training Center in Elk Grove Village; or contact local union for recommendation letter, then apply at Carpenters Training Center. Candidates must pass an aptitude test measuring vocabulary, arithmetic, and reasoning.

Entry Process: Apply in person. Complete Personal Experience Form and return to training center either in person or via USPS. Attend aptitude test (study guides available for $15). Acceptance letters are sent via certified mail. 

Additional Information: Building trades applicants who do not make list may be eligible for the Hybrid Program (see website for details) 

Openings: Individuals interested in the program should register online for an "Application Day" held by the Training Center at the Mokena Training Center.

Entry Process: Apply in person. After notification of aptitude test complete test. Applicants who pass testing will be invited to an interview. 

Additional Information: Candidates accepted into Tile Finishers program must complete a pre-apprenticeship training program before starting work.

  • The physical ability to work in the construction industry without posing a threat to health and safety to the individual or others.

  • High school and post high school transcripts.
  • DD214 for military experience (if applicable).
  • Applicant must have reliable transportation.
  • Successfully pass a WorkKeys test provided by JJC. The test must be dated October 15, 2021 or later. **

Applicants must pass a drug and alcohol screening and obtain a medical examiner certificate per USDOT requirements. Accepted applicants will be required to take and pass the physical exam and the drug/alcohol test.  Applicants may be subject to a physical agility or fitness test on acceptance into the program. Applicants may be subject to an aptitude test. Applicants must be fluent in English to participate in training.
