Student Bulletin - "Daily Bark"

This past weekend, the Bulldogs competed at the 46th annual IHSA Chess State Finals, the largest high school tournament of any activity in the country.  Despite missing three of their top five players, the Bulldogs, who were seeded 116th, finished in 106th place out of 127 teams. Junior Charlie Buh won 6 of his 7 matches and earned All-State Honors on 2nd Board.  Junior Karim Hummos and Sophomore Julian Duda both had three wins on their boards and Sophomore Trevor DeButch added two big wins. Freshmen John Freeh and Eric Albarran had won win and one draw each and Senior Ted Roussin added a clinching victory in a team win.  Way to go Bulldogs!

Before school and during 1st hour you will be handed a random act of kindness bingo card. Challenge yourself to complete as many of the squares as possible throughout your day. If you get bingo, turn in your winning card in the lunchroom for a treat and up to 50 HERO points.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. (Pause). Actually, words can and do hurt. Our words can comfort and express that we understand or that we “see” the other person in front of us. And of course, our words can do the opposite: they can hurt, isolate and make someone feel insignificant. Today, pay attention to the words you are using to speak with others. Are they kind, uplifting, or inspirational? Or are they mean, derogatory, or offensive? Know that the words you choose to use matter and then choose to be kind. Use your words for good. Join us at lunch at the Appreciation Station and send a note of kindness to someone else.

This week celebrates acts of KINDNESS. It all starts with one act – one smile, one compliment, one favor for a friend or classmate.  RB students and staff can model kindness and raise awareness of how words and phrases can negatively impact experiences and a sense of belonging within the school environment.  It’s an opportunity for RB to demonstrate a positive mindset and to leave the world better than they found it and inspire others to do the same.

Pack the Place - This Friday night the boys & girls basketball programs are excited to bring you the "Pack the Place" experience against conference rival ICCP. There will be fun events including the "Hot Shot" contest and other various prizes for fans in attendance. You won't want to miss it. Place your name in the raffle box upon entering both the boys and girls games for a chance to compete for great prizes! Make sure to clear your schedule and wear your blue & white this Friday night and let's pack the place with the boys starting at 6:00 followed by our girls at 7:30. See you this Friday!"
