NATAS (National Academy of TV Arts & Sciences Chicago/Midwest Chapter) notified RBTV that three students were nominated for the Crystal Pillar Award – an honor given to high school students enrolled in a TV production course. Senior Sara Vacek was recognized for her direction of the short film The Wait, junior Shiloh Washington for his videography work on a film title sequence called Mantra, and junior Caleb Schlesser for his sports show RBTV Game of the Week.

Receiving the NATAS Award for Excellence were Beckett Nolan for his music video That’s Touching, and Casey Vileta and Matt Angio for their sports show Real Sports.

At the recent MMEA (Midwest Media Educators Association) High School Video Festival, senior Sara Vacek won first place for her talk show Stand with the Sioux, a program produced cooperatively with sixth grade students from Hauser Junior High in Riverside.

MMEA Finalists included freshman Zach Cameron for RBTV’s The Late Hour, senior Blythe Cotham for her Veteran’s Day Tribute, and senior Brendan Shakeshaft for his BleachLock commercial.
