RBTV Secures First-Place Honors at NATAS and MMEA Awards

RBTV is celebrating its most successful award season in program history! Our talented students recently competed at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Student Production Awards and the Midwest Media Educators Association (MMEA) Video Festival, bringing home top honors across multiple categories.

NATAS Student Production Awards (Midwest Region)

RBTV secured a record-breaking 10 nominations this year. Special recognition goes to senior Liam Enright, who earned six individual nominations, the highest ever for a single student in one year.

Three projects were honored with the Crystal Pillar Award (1st Place):

  • Sports Story: “Bulldogs Forever” – Created by Alex McQueeny & Jacob Garcia
  • Community/Public Relations: “Elevate 208” – A series highlighting impactful stories within the RBHS community.
  • Cinematography: Jacob Garcia – Recognized as one of the top student cinematographers in the Midwest for professional-level artistry.

These Crystal Pillar winners now advance to the National Student Production Emmy Awards, with winners announced in late October!

MMEA Video Festival Results

Our students also dominated at the MMEA Festival (the "IHSA" of media programs), finishing with three 1st-place winners:

  • Charlie Rodis – PSA (“Go to Bed”)

  • Charlie Rodis – Demonstration Video (“How to Play the Drums”)

  • Aiden Schoeff & Colin Cimino – Live Talk Show (“The Playbook”), featuring Head Coach Styler

  • 2 Second Place Finishes
  • 2 Fourth Place Finishes

"This is the most successful award season in the history of RBTV and the most I have experienced in my career as a media educator," said RBTV Teacher Matthew Holdren. "Their work reflects not only their individual dedication but also the supportive environment that exists throughout our school."

Congratulations to all of our hard-working student creators!
