Dear Students and Parents,
This is a notice regarding the state-mandated April 15th ACT with Essay, PreACT Secure, and PreACT Secure 9 exams for all current grades 9-11 students at RBHS. All exams will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15. This will be a non-attendance/college and career exploration day for seniors.
It is important to note that all junior students are required to sit for this exam to satisfy Illinois state graduation requirements. All sophomore and freshman students are required to sit for the exam by the state of Illinois. There is no need to register your student, regardless of grade level, or pay for any exam fees. All students have been registered automatically.
All students and families should review the important information below to prepare for this exam:
- Important: Students are required to use their school-issued AND fully-charged Chromebook for the exam.
- Students should plan to bring…
- Their school-issued Chromebook and charger
- School-issued ID for exam check-in
- A pen or pencil to write on scratch paper.
- A calculator. If they do not bring a calculator, one is available within the TestNAV testing app.
- A snack and/or drink for the exam, to be stored under the chair.
- Students should not bring the following items on testing day as these items are strictly prohibited and will result in the automatic cancellation of a student’s score…
- Cell phones.
- Smart watches.
- Personal computers.
- AI-enabled smart glasses.
- Any other internet-capable device (with the exception of the school-issued Chromebook).
- Hats or hoods, as they are prohibited by the ACT.
- All accommodations will be provided through the testing application, including extended time and screen readers.
- Students will NOT be permitted to go to their lockers after the exam, as other students will still be testing.
- Juniors Only: Junior students should create a MyACT account if they have not created one already. Students will complete mandatory pre-testing information in their English classes in the weeks prior to exam day..
- MyACT accounts can be used to prepare for the test, view and send test scores, explore colleges and careers, and college planning.
Students should plan to eat a nutritious breakfast prior to their exams that morning. Please note, the student cafeteria will be open for breakfast prior to exams, though it will be closed for lunch that day. As stated above, all students are encouraged to bring a snack and/or water for the exam, to be stored under their chair. Please note: ACT student testers with extended time accommodations will have access to snacks.
The total testing time of the ACT with Essay is 3 hours and 25 minutes. Taking into account technology checks, proctor instructions, and submission confirmation, we expect all junior students to be released sometime around 12:00-12:30 p.m.
The total testing time of the PreACT Secure (grade 10) and PreACT Secure 9 (grade 9) exams is 2 hours and 20 minutes. Taking into account technology checks, proctor instructions, and submission confirmation, we expect all sophomore and freshman students to be released sometime around 11:00-11:30 a.m.
