Important Message from Dr. Freytas, 11/15

November 15th, 2019

Greetings Bulldogs,

On Wednesday, November 13th, we came together as a community and learned about Riverside Brookfield’s safety protocols, systems of electronic monitoring, the role social media plays in the lives of the students, and what parents can do to protect their children in this digital era. Being involved in your child’s social media platforms, being knowledgeable of the applications, and intervening when appropriate, were recommended as best practices. The event brought together police chiefs, school administrators, RB’s school resource officer, students, teachers, parents, and the media. We are in this together!

Regrettably, on Thursday, November 14th, we experienced yet another tragedy in this country. An active shooter killed several students and injured many more at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California. Please keep in your reflections, the lives of those lost, their families and everyone that must rebuild.

Reading the news above-mentioned is not easy for anyone; however, from every experience, we, the administrators, strive to learn as much as possible, to prevent anything like this from occurring at our school. Rest assured that RB continues to be a safe school, with vigilant adults, detailed safety protocols, and a plethora of preventative measures. We care about your children, we love your children, and their safety and well-being is our #1 priority.

With high hopes for a fantastic school year,

Dr. Héctor Freytas
Principal
