RBHS Announces the Appointment of Dr. Hector Freytas as Principal

The District 208 Board of Education and Superintendent are proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Hector Freytas as the next Principal of Riverside Brookfield High School effective July 1, 2019.

Dr. Freytas has an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from National Louis University, an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, an M.A. in Teaching of Spanish from the University of Granada, Spain, and a B.A. in Teaching of Spanish from the University of Illinois.

Dr. Freytas has a diverse background in the field of education. He has eight years of teaching experience (Spanish, AP Spanish, Native Speakers). As a teacher he coached the varsity wrestling team and sponsored the College Bound Student Association (CBSA), Debate Team, and Bible Club. Dr. Freytas has served as a Dean of Students (Morton Freshman Campus), Assistant Principal-Dean (Westmont High School), and Principal (ASPIRA Business and Finance High School).

Dr. Skinkis commented on the appointment, “Hector demonstrated a high energy level at each round of the interview process. He was very well prepared and did his homework on RB. He is very passionate about education and working with the students, staff, and parents. I think he will be a great instructional leader for RB. His personality and energy level will generate more school spirit and student engagement.”

Garry Gryczan, Board of Education President, stated, “The Board of Education is excited to welcome Dr. Freytas to our District. He seems like a great fit for RB.”

On February 26, 2019, the Board of Education approved a two-year contract beginning July 1, 2019, through June 30, 2021.
