Current S.A. Activities

Save the Date ~ Freshman Orientation 2023 ~ Thursday, August 10, 10-11:30 am
Freshman Orientation - starts in the Stadium (Auditorium if the weather is bad):
We welcome the incoming freshman with some current RB students, who represent the variety of sports and clubs, and all of the grade levels.  We give a tour, allowing freshman to ask questions and see some important locations, including the cafe, Nurse’s office, PE locker rooms, as well as sharing ways students can get involved, and other survival tips for a successful year ahead as a Bulldog.

Save the Date ~ Homecoming Dance 2023 ~ Saturday, September 30
Homecoming:
The Student Association plans the majority of Homecoming. SA members vote on the dance’s theme, and create a spirit week and decorate the Door A Entrance per the theme. Additionally, SA plans and executes a pep assembly held at the end of the week prior to the dance to boost school spirit and excitement in preparation for Homecoming. SA members then take in feedback after Homecoming has ended to determine what went well and what could have been better, and brainstorm to make each year’s homecoming better than the last.

Save the Date ~ next Blood Drives are Weds, Nov 8 & Weds, Feb 21, 8 am - 2 pm in the East Gym
Blood Drive:
The Student Association sponsors 2-3 blood drives per year.  These drives are held either in the East Gym or on a Vitalant Blood Donor Mobile Truck.  Students must be 16 or older and in good health to donate.  There are other requirements, these are discussed with students when they sign-up for the Drive.  Sign-ups happen in the student cafe over a couple of days in all lunches, or students may see the sponsors to sign-up.  One pint of blood can save three lives!

Thanksgiving Baskets:
In the fall, Student Association teams up with Community Support Services in Brookfield and collects non-perishable food items and gift cards for Thanksgiving baskets for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities.

Coat & Blanket Drive:
In December, Student Association teams up with the Salvation Army and collects gently used and new coats, blankets, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots.  These items help local families in need and are given away for free on a Saturday in December.

Pop Tops Collection:
In the Spring, the Student Association holds a Pop Tops collection to later be brought to the Ronald McDonald House near Loyola Hospital.  These Pop Tops are then recycled and make money for the House to help families staying there while their child is in the hospital.

Other Fun Activities:
In addition to weekly Wednesday morning meetings, SA plans all sorts of other all-school activities.  Some of these include: Winter/Spring Pep Rally, Lunch activities, Volunteering in the Community with local groups, Trivia Night, etc.

Student Association Officer Elections:
Elections are always held in the Spring (usually late April) for future sophomore, junior & senior class officers.  The Freshman Elections are held in September, more info on this during the first few weeks of school.
