RB Library Policies
Library Hours
7:00am - 4:00pm on all school days
Students are welcome before/after school and during their lunch or study hall periods.
Expectations
Be kind to each other
- No use of inappropriate, triggering, or derogatory language.
Leave your space as you found it
- Put away all games and craft items.
- Games and puzzles must be used in the Large Group area.
- Throw away all trash in trash bins
- Snacks are OK in the library, but please no lunches. Some exceptions to this may be made.
- Push in your chair when you leave.
- Do not move any furniture around.
- Do not deface or damage the furniture.
Be respectful
- Listen to library staff and any announcements made by administrators or staff.
- Keep your hands to yourself--no fighting, cuddling, etc.
- Do not be disruptive to others around you.
- Use headphones/earbuds when listening to music or watching videos.
- Use a Level 1 volume (whisper) when talking in the small group area.
- Use a Level 2 volume (classroom group work) when talking in the large group area.
- No Level 3 (i.e. cafeteria/talking over others) or Level 4 (i.e. outside/yelling) voices in the library.
- Remain by your chosen seat until the bell rings.
- Students must sign out and back in for hall passes. No passes will be given to go to the cafeteria.
- No first-person shooter games may be played on the library computers.
Sign in when you arrive
- All students must have their ID scanned when they arrive in the library. A photo of a student ID on a smartphone is OK.
- Everyone needs to check in at the circulation desk upon entering the library (even if you are just printing or checking out a book)
If these expectations are not followed, library privileges for study hall/before school/after school/lunchtime will be revoked for a specified amount of time.
Borrowing Policies
- Books may be checked out for 3 weeks.
- Magazines may be checked out for 1 week (must be a past issue).
- Students may renew materials 2 times.
Fines
- No fines are charged to students for an overdue book when the book is returned.
- If a student loses any library material, they will be charged for the cost of replacing the lost item.
- If a student damages a book that cannot be repaired, they may be charged for the cost of replacing the damaged item.
