Hey RB grab some friends and come play pétanque with the French club on Wednesday after school! No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome to come. We will meet in the French classroom (room 204) at 3:15pm. Hope to see you there!

 

FCCLA. It's a club where you can compete in events for fashion design, pastry arts, technology, public speaking, interior design, children's literature, and much more. FCCLA is the place to improve your technical skills and learn how to become a leader in your school and community. FCCLA's first meeting will be on Thursday, September 13 at 3:15 in room 201, the Lehotsky room. For more information, contact Ms. Wilmot or Ms. Lee.

 

Are you the type of person to “Pay It Forward”? Would you like to learn more about leadership opportunities and working with underserved children from the Chicagoland area? Urban Initiatives may be a right fit for you.  You can earn Service Hours and help out Chicago’s youth to become community leaders through academic success, healthy living and social-emotional learning. Applications are now available in the Main Office.

 

Are you going to Homecoming? Buy your dress at the RB Boutique! The RB Boutique pop-up shop will be held Saturday, September 15 from 11:00 to 2:00 pm just inside the main entrance of RBHS. Short dresses are $5 and long dresses are $10. We also have jewelry and accessories. We have a wonderful selection this year with dresses in many styles and sizes so please stop by!

Anyone interested in trying out for baseball please note, Offseason Baseball Open weight sessions will be begin on Monday Sept 17th at 6:30am. Sessions will run every Monday & Friday until the end of December.  If you have any questions, please see Coaches, Till, Ruge, Ori or Grieve.

 

African American Minority Empowerment Club will be meeting in Room 115 after school to plan and advertise Open Mic Night.  Please join this growing group.

 

The first meeting for Bulldogs for Life will be tomorrow, Sept 12 at 3:15 in Room 175. Come and find out what this student-led pro-life club is all about.

 

Did you know that 20-50% of Youth have a family history of depression and are three times more likely to develop depression.  This week is suicide prevention week please check your school email for details regarding activities you can participate in.

 

Attention Seniors: Are you worried about writing those college essays?  Want to know what colleges are really looking for in a personal statement? Not really sure where to get started? Don't worry, we have a workshop designed with you in mind! On Thursday, September 13 during 7th period, Student Services will be hosting an Essay Writing Workshop for any interested Seniors.  Space is limited so sign up today with Ms. Englehart in Room 100.

 

Dodge, Duck, Dip, Dive and Dodge

The annual dodgeball tournament will be held on Sunday, September 16th. Sign-up during all lunches today. The entry fee is $5 per player. So grab a team of 6-10 people for a chance to become the 2018 Dodgeball Champions!

The winning team will compete against a faculty team at the Homecoming Pep Assembly so don't miss out!

 

Did you know that Sports Boosters started a new tradition where one winning student design is made into the main t-shirt for the year?  It’s called “THE SHIRT”…and they are going fast! When it’s time to put on your blue and white, you’d better make sure you have one. Only $15 at the Spirit wear booth that will be open during home football games. Do you know who designed “The Shirt” for 2018?  Go to the spirit wear booth and find out. Hint: “his last name starts with R” Better go check it out!

 

Any student that intends on bringing a guest to homecoming must fill out a guest pass form and turn it in by Wednesday, September 19. The forms can be found in the main office.

 

Get a head start on homework! Come join us in the student cafeteria for Homework Hangout from 3:05-4:00 pm Mondays - Thursdays. NHS tutors will be available to help everyday, if you have questions or need help in one or more classes.

Did you miss your chance to park in the Rockefeller Student Lot? If you did, then you are in luck! The South Zoo Lot Parking Application is up and online on RB’s home page. Students who are approved may park in the Zoo Lot from October 1st to March 31st. Approval notices will be out by the end of September. All fees must be paid for in advance prior to purchasing the $85.00 Permit.

 

Attention seniors! On September 14th, photographers from Prestige Portraits will be at school to take senior pictures for the yearbook. They will be set up in the Alumni Lounge at 10:50 (4A lunch) and remain at school until 3:30. This is only for the yearbook pose and it is free of charge for all seniors. The deadline to have a senior portrait taken for the yearbook is September 28th. All pictures and pose selections must be completed by September 28th.. Contact Mrs. Marsh in room 262 with any questions.
