LAST WEEKEND, the Bulldogs competed in the 43rd annual IHSA state chess tournament in Peoria, the largest tournament in Illinois and one of the biggest in the U.S.  The team, with five new starters, went 3-4 and finished in a respectable 86th place out of 149 teams.

Sophomore Andres Resto won All State Honors, winning six of his seven matches and finished in 5th place overall on Board 4.  

Sophomore Megan Sroka, who may be the first female to go to state for chess in RB History, won three games and had two draws on Board 6.  

Senior Jacob Lams had three wins and a draw and SenIOR Ray Greco and Sophomore Joey Vitek each added three wins.

Junior Jackson Hajer,  Luke Graham, and Freshmen Nathan Sanchez also had key victories this weekend.

Chess Club still meets every Tuesday in Room 119.  All are welcome to come and play!!!

SKI CLUB: If you are planning on attending the ski and snowboard club trip on Monday February 20th please turn in your permission slips to the office by Wednesday February 15th. If you still need a permission slip they can be picked up in the office.

 

ATTENTION SENIORS:

The local scholarship applications are now available on the Student Services website. The deadline for most applications is March 10th, although a few scholarships have a different deadline. Please see your counselor with any questions.  


KEY CLUB: Any student interested in joining Key Club we are having a meeting Tuesday Feb.21st at 3:10 in room 201.  Key Club is one of the largest High school leadership organization which helps their communities in countless ways by working together and helping children of the world.
