The Alliance for Community Media (ACM) notified RBTV this week that two RBTV programs won first place at their 2015 Hometown Media Awards. This national competition honors and promotes community media and local TV programs that air on cable television. Awards are presented to creative programs that address community needs, develop diverse community involvement, challenge conventional commercial television formats, and move viewers to experience television in a different way.
Winning first place in the Student Animation Category was RB senior Colin Hughes for his Animation Compilation Reel. In the Student Public Service Announcement Category, Colin Hughes along with senior Alec Frank took first place for their Radon PSA called “Why Would You Live With Radon.” Both entries can be viewed on the RBTV YouTube Channel - youtube.com/myrbtv
At the 2015 Chicagoland High School Film Festival, RBTV’s short film Clarity won for best direction. Clarity focuses on an elderly man’s final days with Alzheimer's disease. Leading the production team was RB senior Colin Hughes along with seniors Jon Fritsch, Ben Gembara and Nathan Perez, junior Lisandro Resto, sophomore Sara Vacek, and RB alum Libby Creek.
