AP English Language and Composition teacher Mr. Dan O’Rourke was invited to the International AP Workshop at the American University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. O’Rourke led AP Workshop Sessions for 14 AP English Language and Composition teachers from across the world in a two-day workshop. Over the course of two days, O’Rourke provided an in-depth review of rhetorical analysis, reading and analysis strategies, and College Board resources for teachers to be more prepared for the exam.
“All the participants were super appreciative,” said O’Rourke. “They had never had an in-person AP workshop
before and were so hungry to learn and listen to my insight.”
He also helped participants learn the best ways to teach writing stronger arguments to their students. As an AP
Language Question Leader, O’Rourke was able to provide insights on how the exams are scored and cater the
workshop towards the prompts on the exam.
