Argonne offers a paid research participation program for local Illinois high school seniors interested in a career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See
Boys and girls at Shaw-Waw-Nas-See engage in a range of land sports and watersports, artistic activities, games, nature pursuits and team-building exercises. The United States Senate
Youth Program Hearst Scholarship
Each year, this extremely competitive merit-based program brings two high school juniors and seniors from every State, the District of Columbia and the Department of Defense Education activity, to Washington, D.C. for an intensive week-long study of the federal government and its leaders. Research in the Biological Sciences (RIBS)
This four-week intensive training program is designed to expose students to a broad range of molecular, microbiological, and cell biological techniques currently used in research laboratories. Most of a typical day in RIBS is spent in lab. The course ends with a research forum in which the students present the results of their projects. Stones and Bones
Join the Field Museum’s Distinguished Service Curator, Lance Grande, for a four-week intensive practicum in paleontology. This course provides the fundamental scientific background needed to discover and understand the meaning of fossils as they are preserved, and gives students the opportunity to gain actual field experience. Whether you’re looking for creative writing workshops, preview courses in STEM fields, or to explore theories of ethics, philosophy, and free expression, the University of Chicago’s summer Immersion courses offer you the opportunity to explore a topic of interest in-depth. Every summer, around 350 student musicians entering grades 10, 11, 12, and recent high school graduates spend a week at Luther College to study, explore, and perform music under the mentorship of Luther's music faculty.
