RBTV Students Receive Four Crystal Pillar Awards and MMEA Nominations

RBTV students received an unprecedented 10 nominations at the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) student production awards, renowned for awarding the prestigious Emmy Awards. On Friday, April 26, RBTV celebrated as four of those nominations resulted in Crystal Pillar awards—a testament to being the best in the nation. Here are our award-winning students: 


  • Makayla Angshed -  Best Short Form Fiction category for her film “Time to Wake Up” 

  • Makayla Angshed -  Best Writer for her film “Time to Wake Up”

  • Jenny Thomas, Liam Hickey, and Liam Keohane were awarded Best Documentary for their film “Gridiron Girl.”

  • Liam Hickey, Liam Keohane, and Matthew Morgan - Best Live Sports Production for their outstanding work on RBTV’s sports broadcasts. 

Additionally, students achieved significant success at the Midwest Media Educators Association Video Festival, where RBTV submitted 28 entries and had 20 finalists. Winners:


  • Makayla Angshed - First place for Commercial
  • Liam Keohane, Liam Hickey - First place for Talk Show, “Bulldog Blitz” 
  • Gideon Bradford, Jacob Garcia, and Jake Dudzik - First place for their Social Media Promotion, “This is RBTV” 
  • Jenny Thomas - Second place PSA for “Get Some Sleep” 
  • Makayla Angshed - Third place for her Film Trailer, “Time to Wake Up” 
  • Mason Myslinski - Third place for News Package, “Meet the Bulldogs” 
  • Mason Myslinski - Third Place for Demonstration, “Mason’s Man Maintenance” 
  • Makayla Angshed - Third place for Cinematography, “Angshed’s Reel” 
  • Jenny Thomas, Liam Hickey, Liam Keohane - Fifth place for Documentary 
  • Jenny Thomas - Fifth place for School Promotion, “RBHS Winter Sports” 
  • Makayla Angshed - Fifth place for her Dramatic Narrative “Time to Wake Up”
