It's Banned Books Week and RBLibrary is celebrating everyone's right to read. Before a book is banned, it gets challenged. A challenge is an attempt to remove or restrict materials, based upon the objections of a person or group. It's an attempt to remove material from the curriculum or library, thereby restricting the access of others. The top 3 challenged books in the past decade are Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher, the Captain Underpants series by Dav Pilkey, and The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie. Stand up for your right to read and read a book you enjoy this week.
