The BOE and The RBEA Announces The New 3 Year Collective Bargaining Agreement

The Board of Education and the Riverside Brookfield Education Association are pleased to announce that at the Board’s meeting on November 8, 2016, the Board approved a new three-year collective bargaining agreement with the Association. The new agreement is the product of numerous meetings between the Board’s and Association’s negotiating teams. The collaborative process began in the early spring of 2016 and culminated recently. The parties reviewed every aspect of the agreement and believe they have negotiated a fair and equitable contract.

The Significant Highlights of the Agreement:
  • Teacher Salary Schedule was eliminated; teacher salary increases will now follow a “flat dollar” concept;
  • An additional Instructional Coach position was added for the Special Education department and new language was added to involve the Instructional Coaches in the teacher evaluation process;
  • Retirement incentives were restructured for teacher retirees;
  • Additional sponsor and assistant coach stipends were added to the agreement; and,
  • Educational support personnel employees will receive a three percent increase for the 2016-17 school year and, in the subsequent years, wage increases are tied to the Consumer Price Index
The Board and the Association commend all of the participants in the negotiations process for their dedication and collaborative efforts in finalizing this Agreement. The Agreement maintains the stature of our highly accomplished and respected teachers and support staff, and sustains the Board’s budget and long-range financial goals.
