RIVERSIDE BROOKFIELD HIGH SCHOOL RANKED TOP 15 IN ILLINOIS

RIVERSIDE, IL -- Riverside Brookfield High School (RBHS) maintained its ranking among the top 15 high schools in Illinois on U.S. News & World Report Magazine's just released 2013 Best High Schools list. The school ranked 427th nationally from among 21,000 public high schools.
"RB is consistently recognized by colleges as a top school for recruiting outstanding students," said Dr. Kevin Skinkis, Superintendent of School District 208. "This ranking from U.S. News & World Report will help us to continue to place our students in the colleges of their choice, as well as retain and attract the best educators."
To produce the ranking, U.S. News teamed up with the Washington, D.C.-based American Institutes for Research (AIR), one of the largest behavioral and social science research organizations in the world. They analyzed 21,035 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia.
A three-step process determined the Best High Schools. The first two steps ensured that the schools serve all of their students well, using performance on state proficiency tests as the benchmarks. For those schools that made it past the first two steps, a third step assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work.
In addition to being ranked 15th among 649 public and eight magnet schools in Illinois, RBHS was among the 500 Gold Medal winning schools nationally, based on their College Readiness Index ratings.

RIVERSIDE BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT 208 AND THE RIVERSIDE BROOKFIELD EDUCATION ASSOCIATION (RBEA) CONDUCTED FIRST SESSION OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

The District 208 Board of Education and the RBEA conducted their first session of collective bargaining on Wednesday, March 20, 2013. The current agreement between the District and RBEA expires on June 30, 2013. Both the RBEA and Board of Education were pleased with the discussions that occurred at the initial meeting. A tentative agreement was reached in regard to some general language and grammatical edits that needed to be made throughout the collective bargaining agreement.
In addition to the tentative agreement, both the Board and the RBEA were able to agree on a Memorandum of Agreement in regard to “Pay Frequency” and “Pay Frequency for Extra Duties.” This memorandum will take effect with the 2013-14 school year. (A copy of the memorandum will be attached to the other memorandums posted on the RBHS web page.)
According to Board President Matt Sinde, “The Superintendent (Dr. Skinkis) presented the concern with the current payroll process to the RBEA. There were some concerns with the frequency of pay periods and how extra duty stipends were being paid out. The RBEA executive board and Dr. Skinkis were able to collaboratively draft an agreement that addressed all the concerns. Mr. Monahan (RBEA Welfare Committee Chair) and I formalized the agreement via signatures during the negotiation session on Wednesday. The Board and Administration appreciate the RBEA working collaboratively with the District to resolve the problem.”
