the purpose of this video is to provide you with important information one-to-one learning at rbr technology plan strives to provide additional resources and support to enhance our students learning environment freshman students Chromebooks that they take home will help us fulfill our mission of preparing students for constantly evolving technology creating Futures in education and employment we cannot forecast through the use of Chromebooks this one-to-one learning environment will help strengthen the critical thinking communication collaboration and create any of our students after watching this video you will sign a Chromebook user agreement which outlines important information about expectations of Chrome views in school and at home you will also receive a packet of information that contains a copy of this agreement for your reference please be sure to read the document and its entirety students are solely responsible for the Chromebooks issued to them and in addition to complying with all other applicable District policies including the auta students must adhere to the expectations outlined in this agreement for example students must bring their fully charged Chromebook can a power charger to school everyday failure to do so may result in disciplinary action a fully charged Chromebook should last at least 8 hours if a student has forgotten or lost his or her Chromebook a limited number of Chromebooks will be available in the business office from 7:30 to 7:50 a.m. student accounts will be charged $5 for each time a Chromebook is borrowed and Chromebooks must be returned after school by 3:30 p.m. to the business does the same day to avoid a $10 late fee students must treat their devices with care and never leave Chromebooks on attended even for a moment unsecured location students are solely responsible for any apps software or extensions on their Chromebooks that are not installed by a member of the district we will wait technology staff students are responsible for backing up their data to protect from Lost the technology fee includes a four-year insurance plan for students Chromebook the district will repair or replace damaged equipment resulting from normal use we have partnered with technology resource advisors to add your student with the coverage outlined in the packet of information you will receive repair cost for damage not covered by insurance will be added to the students feed balance if a student's Chromebook is inoperable he or she must report to the technology student help desk in the library during periods 1 through 7 the school has a limit number of spare devices for use while the students Chromebook is repaired or replaced a student may not up to keep an inoperable or damaged Chromebook to avoid in class work the repair turnaround time is 7 to 10 days the insurance does not cover lost or stolen Chromebooks all stolen Chrome should be reported to the administration in the same school day it was stolen the full replacement cost for the Chromebook will be applied to the students feed balance for any Chromebook that is for stolen students will also be assessed fees applied to their fee balance for a lost or broken Chromebook charger $45 or a case play $5 students must also go to the business office to borrow a Chromebook each day until the new Chromebook arrives before school begins we expect to to read the Google Chromebook starting guide which is included in the provided packet student should try to follow the directions and complete the skills outlined in this guide when you receive your Chromebook you will notice that it looks exactly like a laptop but there are several differences between both devices Chromebooks are internet devices that are fully integrated with Google Apps software is installed via the Google apps Web Store similar to an iPhone or Android based phone you cannot attach a printer directly to a Chromebook but you can print from it and we will explain how to do this it is important to note that Chrome does Isis have flash support built-in but they do not support Java or Silverlight any websites that require Java or Silverlight will not work on your Chromebook just start using your Chromebook login with your Gmail account and password and then click on sign-in you will receive this login information did a select a picture for your account and click on okay the Chromebook will go to the desktop and the Chrome internet browser will open there's a touchpad on Chromebook and plays of a mouse and there are instructions for how to use this if you are not familiar with a touchpad when you receive your Chromebook it will be set up to sign into Arby's why this network and while in the building it will automatically connect to this network if you are away from school you can connect to a different wireless network commonly known as Wi-Fi networks to access the internet to check your connectivity look at the bottom right corner of your Chromebook to connect to a WiFi network if you went already sign into your Chromebook click the network icon in the lower-right corner of your screen click and network name to connect to it secure a network are marked with the icon and require additional information before you can connect if you are connecting to a secure network that uses password authentication you'll be prompted to enter password when the Chromebook is closed the screen will be locked to unlock the screen open the Chromebook and sign in again also information since starting guide about browser Keys taking snapshots adding a printer file management and accessing offline file so you can still complete some school work without an internet connection will be included in the starting guide please note the directions for adding a printer will be helpful for you to be able to print to your printer at from your Chromebook however rest assured that once school begins students will receive direct instruction on how to use the Chromebook all will participate in a two-day orientation for their Chromebooks Chromebook orientation will begin on the first day of school during this orientation will review basic operating information for the Chromebook and you will practice logging into the Chromebook and email day two of the orientation will occur on second day of school during their classes throughout the day students will receive instruction from their teachers about the topics listed on the slide in this way freshman tea business students will have used their Chromebooks numerous times by the end of the second day of school and freshman students will have a clear understanding of how to successfully use District technology in English classes students will focus on Google Drive and docs in math classes students will focus on Schoology PE classes students will focus on technology expectations and procedures in science classes students will focus on Skyward and lab access and in Social Studies classes students will focus on the Google Chrome Store we recognize that students have in their own Chromebook both at school and at home is a chain start adults have to help students manage in this packet we have included a sheet entitled parent tips for one-to-one computing this sheet provides tips and ideas that can help parents with this change to create effective learning at home we have also included a flyer about our parent Technology Series these parent work that's where designed with students in mind and give parents an opportunity to learn more about the one-to-one initiative receive individual Technology support and learn about the resources that are be to support students academic progress along with skills for success in a wonder One environment more information will be forthcoming for each event but please save these dates in your calendar now so you can attend throughout the first semester as we begin this new school year we are excited for students to have Chromebooks because this educational tool will help us fulfill our mission of preparing students for constantly evolving technology and will help strengthen the critical thinking unication collaboration and creativity of our students
